The 9th Congress of the Balkan Stomatological Society will be held in the Metropol Hotel, May 13-16, 2004. The hotel is located on the lake coast, on 7 km distance from the center of the town of Ohrid and offers vast varieties of congress facilities.

The official language of the congress is English. Simultaneous translation will be available during the sessions.

   
The town of Ohrid is a living museum, housing unique monuments, which testify for its cultural, spiritual, educational significance from the Neolithic, Roman, Hellenic, Byzantine, Medieval and Ottoman period. There are many sites of interest among which the most eye-catching are the Fortress of emperor Samuel (10th century), the antic theatre, the gallery of Icons, the early Christian Episcopal churches (St. Sofia from 11th century, the restored early Christian basilica from the 5th century St.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, the Council of the Balkan Stomatological Society and all my colleagues from the Balkan countries, I am very honored to invite you to the 9th Balkan Dental Congress, which will be held in Ohrid, in the middle of May 2004.
The tradition of organizing congresses of the dentists from the Balkan region is a great opportunity to foster relations between the people that have much in common, from the professional choice to the history, culture, living styles. This is accomplished along with the scientific program, which stretches over all fields of dentistry and which will offer all participants numerous opportunities for learning, professional development, exchange of ideas. It is our intention to achieve a high scientific level with the support and the participation of internationally known colleagues, experts in various dental specialties.
I would like to draw your attention to the congress site that we have chosen for you, Ohrid, the eternal town, a magical hill which links ancient and modern times forewer, because: Ohrid has been a living town for two thousand and four hundred years. It has often been refered to as the “Balkan Jerusalem”. As hardly anywhere else in the world, this region treasures a large number of historical monuments: churches, icons, archeological sites and other artifacts. Today Ohrid is a cultural, spiritual and tourist centre. And finally, Ohrid and its lake have been named a world cultural and natural heritage listed city under the protection of UNESCO since 1980. We hope that, with everything it has to offer, it will make Your stay an unforgetable experience.
